Kajian ini akan memperlihatkan kata pelarian yang terdapat dalam artikel berita pelarian Syria dalam al-Jazeera Bahasa Arab. Analisis data dalam kajian ini dilaksanakan menggunakan pendekatan Model Tiga Dimensi yang dipelopori oleh Norman Fairclough (1989, 1992, 1995, 2003). Pendekatan ini melibatkan tiga tahap analisis wacana, iaitu analisis teks, analisis amalan diskursif dan analisis praktis sosial. Kajian ini tertumpu kepada analisis teks sahaja yang hanya akan memfokuskan kepada analisis leksikal. Al-Jazeera dilihat menggunakan pelbagai perkataan untuk merujuk kepada pelarian. Jadi, kajian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti bagaimana bahasa digunakan dalam membezakan kategori-kategori pelarian yang ada. Kajian ini akan cuba menjawab dua persoalan utama iaitu apakah perkataan yang digunakan bagi merujuk golongan pelarian dan apakah ciri-ciri yang digambarkan dalam artikel berita mengenai perkataan pelarian tersebut. Hasil kajian menunjukkan terdapat tiga kategori utama pelarian yang terdapat dalam al-Jazeera. Kategori ini melibatkan golongan pelarian, golongan pelarian dalam negara dan pendatang.
