Abstract

This descriptive survey study aims to identify the student perceptions on using of historical sources in history subjects. A total of 55 Form Four students from a daily secondary school in state of north Penisular Malaysia through the purposive techniques sampling. The questionaire which has been validated by the content experts and has a good reliability value are used as research instrument in this study. The data were analysed using descriptive statistic using IBM SPSS computer programme. This finding indicated that the level of students' perceptions on the using of historical resources in history subject at high level in terms of relevance, confidence, satisfaction and attention. This study suggests that historical sources are potentially used as a history teaching and learning material in the classroom.

 Abstrak

Kajian tinjauan secara deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti tahap persepsi terhadap penggunaan sumber-sumber sejarah dalam mata pelajaran Sejarah. Seramai 55 orang murid Tingkatan Empat daripada sebuah sekolah menengah harian di sebuah negeri utara Semenannjung Malysia yang dipilih melalui teknik persampelan bertujuan. Soal selidik yang dibina sendiri oleh pengkaji yang telah disahkan oleh pakar penilai dalam bidang sejarah dan mempunyai nilai kebolehpercayaan yang baik telah dijadikan instrumen kajian ini. Data kajian ini telah dianalisis secara statistik deskriptif dengan menggunakan perisian pengaturcaraan IBM SPSS Statistics. Dapatan kajian ini mendapati bahawa tahap persepsi murid dari aspek perkaitan, keyakinan, kepuasan dan perhatian terhadap penggunaan sumber-sumber sejarah dalam mata pelajaran Sejarah berada pada tahap tinggi. Kajian ini telah mencadangkan bahawa sumber-sumber sejarah adalah berpotensi digunakan sebagai bahan pengajaran dan pembelajaran Sejarah di dalam kelas.
